Moving your shop from Etsy

Handfair is an independent marketplace with no listing fees and no seller commission. Buyers pay a 5% marketplace fee. Here’s how the fees compare and what moving your catalog involves.

Checkout and payouts aren’t open yet. You can set up and publish your catalog now. Your shop will also need a ready connected payment account before it takes orders.

Fees on a $100 item

This example uses one US seller, a $100 item in USD, one listing charge, and no shipping or tax. The Handfair fee is added to the item price and included in the price buyers see.

Example US sale in USD, before your production costs
Per itemEtsyHandfair
Item price set by the seller$100$100
Seller listing charge$0.20$0.00
Seller transaction charge$6.50 (6.5%)$0.00
Seller payment processing$3.25 (US: 3% + $0.25)$0.00, paid by the marketplace
Buyer pays in this example$100$105, including a $5 buyer fee
Seller keeps before own costs$90.05$100

This example leaves out advertising, subscriptions, setup charges, currency conversion, taxes on fees and shipping. Etsy listing fees can apply before a sale and again on renewal, and processing rates vary by country. Your supplies, packaging, postage, refunds and other business costs still matter.

Etsy rates checked October 4, 2026: Etsy Fees & Payments Policy and Etsy Payments Policy. Check those policies for current rates. Read Handfair’s fee policy.

With the same item price, buyers pay more here than on Etsy in this example. Think about the price buyers see and your own margins when you decide where to list. Optional paid home page promotions cost extra.

Moving your listings with a CSV

  1. Export your active listings

Etsy’s Download Data page gives you a listing CSV. Follow Etsy’s export instructions, and keep a separate copy of your original photos and product details.

  2. Map the fields you want to keep

In Studio, choose Import CSV. The importer takes up to 500 rows in a 2 MB CSV, with prices in USD. Map title, description, price, quantity, SKU, tags, materials, categories and HTTPS image URL columns. Convert other currencies yourself before you import.

  3. Check the preview, then save

Look over validation errors, duplicates, stock and unmapped columns. Choose the valid rows and confirm you have permission to use their text and photos. Imports become private drafts with new IDs. Your studio holds up to 500 drafts in total, and importing doesn’t publish anything.

  4. Finish what a CSV can’t carry

Set up options, personalization, preparation time, shipping profiles, shop policy and any digital files. Review each draft in the Creative dashboard before you publish. Share your shop once your profile is ready.

Image URLs stay as links, because the importer does not copy the files into photo storage. Upload your originals if you want photos hosted here. Orders, reviews, followers, buyer accounts, shipping settings and option combinations are not transferred. There is no live Etsy inventory sync, so keep quantities current wherever you list.

What your listings can include

Photos, options and your story

Physical listings take a cover plus 9 gallery photos, up to 50 priced and stocked option combinations, SKUs, attributes and text personalization. Your shop page can have your story, a banner, an announcement, sections and FAQs.

Stock and shipping

Choose shipping destinations, rates and preparation time. Pause products or turn on vacation mode. Saved templates and bulk edits help keep your catalog up to date, and stock for each option is edited on that option.

Digital files

Digital listings deliver your own PDF or ZIP files, with versioned downloads for buyers. They need the platform’s digital payment classification and a ready seller account. Digital checkout isn’t set up yet. Upload and review files separately, because a CSV doesn’t carry them.

Custom work

Take commission requests, send a quote and prepare a private listing for that buyer. Paid work can go through proofs and agreed revisions. Accepting a quote records the agreement, and payment still goes through checkout.

What you handle

You provide accurate descriptions, original photos, prices, stock and policies. You make, pack and ship physical work, answer buyers and sort out issues with your orders. A new shop doesn’t come with an audience, and sales aren’t guaranteed.

You can set up a shop before you decide where to sell. Keep existing orders and obligations where they were made. Handfair is independent of Etsy and not affiliated with it.
